About this guide

Milwaukee has something for most moods, from Fiserv Forum and American Family Field on game day to the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Mitchell Park Domes. Here are real places to start, with sources at the bottom.

Plan your day

The Milwaukee Art Museum is open Wednesday through Monday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Mitchell Park Domes are open weekdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Milwaukee Public Market is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Pick a mood: game day, museums and the lakefront, food, drink and music or with kids.

Game day and festival days

  • Fiserv Forum, a glass-fronted arena, under a blue evening sky with the Deer District plaza beside it

    Fiserv Forum

Opened in 2018 in Deer District, home of the Bucks and a concert venue. Stay close and walk. The Bucks' 2026-27 schedule is linked from Visit Milwaukee's page.

    American Family Field

The Brewers play at One Brewers Way, on natural grass, under a roof that opens or closes in ten minutes. Our bars' shuttles drop you along the third base line.

  • Yellow and blue gondolas of a cable ride crossing a clear blue sky above a crowd on the Henry Maier Festival Park grounds in Milwaukee

    Summerfest grounds

Henry Maier Festival Park is a 75-acre lakefront park with a 23,000-seat amphitheater. Summerfest, German Fest and Irish Fest all happen on the grounds, and Irish Fest runs four days in August.

Museums, architecture and the lakefront

  • Milwaukee Art Museum

Open Wednesday through Monday. The pavilion's wings span 217 feet when open. They open at 10 a.m., close and open again at noon, and close at 5 p.m.

  • Mitchell Park Domes

Three glass domes, each its own world: desert, tropical, floral. Open weekdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Adults $10.

  • Harley-Davidson Museum

The only Harley-Davidson Museum in the world. More than 450 motorcycles and artifacts on a 20-acre campus. You do not need a museum ticket to eat at Motor Bar and Restaurant on site.

  • The Milwaukee River in the Third Ward, with a boardwalk railing, two kayakers on the water and apartment buildings on the far bank

    The Riverwalk

3.1 miles along the river, from downtown and the Third Ward to Lake Michigan. Start at the Bronze Fonz. Boat tours and kayak rentals run from the river, and the path has several lifts for visitors who need them.

  • A paved lakefront path beside Lake Michigan with two walkers, trees, downtown towers and the white wings of the Art Museum beyond

    Beaches and lakefront parks

1,400 acres of beaches and parkland on the water. Bradford Beach is downtown and made a Travel Channel top 11 city beaches list. On the water: boat cruises, kayaking and fresh water surfing.

  • Lake Park

Frederick Law Olmsted, who designed Central Park, designed it, and it debuted in 1889. Walk to the waterfall and the Grand Staircase, then tour North Point Lighthouse, whose history dates to 1855, and climb to the top.

Food, drink, music and theater

  • The Milwaukee Public Market, a low steel and glass hall at the end of a street with streetcar wires overhead and people outside

    Milwaukee Public Market

Nearly 20 independent vendors at 400 N. Water St. in the Third Ward. Eat inside, on the patio or upstairs. Listed hours are Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  • Lakefront Brewery

Two brothers began homebrewing in a shuttered Riverwest bakery, and the brewery got its start in 1987. It offers a tour and a beer hall. Check its site for times.

  • Beer gardens

Visit Milwaukee says Estabrook Beer Garden, at 4600 Estabrook Pkwy, was the first public beer garden in the U.S. since Prohibition. It is open daily from noon to 10 p.m. in season.

  • Rooftops and patios

Visit Milwaukee's rooftop list includes spots in Deer District and the Third Ward, such as The New Fashioned, with a large balcony above the Deer District plaza.

  • Milwaukee Rep

The Rep's 2026/27 season has a cabaret and several stages. A Christmas Carol plays Dec. 2 to 24, 2026, at the Pabst Theater, and a Stackner Cabaret show runs Nov. 6, 2026, to Jan. 3, 2027.

  • Live music

Visit Milwaukee calls the city a “must‑visit spot on many national tours,” with a lively local scene too.

With kids

Make a day of it

Staying downtown makes most of this a short walk or ride. Our 3rd Street Retreat rentals sit above Oak Barrel on Old World Third Street, and on Brewers game days our bars run free courtesy shuttles with any purchase. See the Brewers game‑day guide for the plan.
